Overweighing through overglazing, chemical treatment and non-labeled additives: the shrimp industry has had its fair share of food safety scandals over the years. With increasing market competition and price pressure, another scandal could be in the making as industry watchers encounter rampant and illegal use of agar-agar to increase weights in shrimp.
