The latest biennial report to Congress on the United States' work towards improving international fisheries management outlines several areas of progress over the last few years.
Having been identified In the the National Marine Fisheries Service’s (NMFS) Assistant Administrator’s 2013 report to congress as having an issue with bycatch of North Pacific loggerhead turtles, Mexico has since adopted a regulatory program comparable to that of the United States for addressing it and was issued with a positive certification for bycatch in September 2016.
