Pangasius prices for fish from Vietnam have started their ascent as the Tet holidays approach and raw material becomes increasingly sparse, industry players told IntraFish.

However, demand for the product in Europe is still flat and if anything still dropping.

Last summer, pangasius reached all time lows of around $1.80 (€1.70) per kilo, which forced many farmers to respond by either lowering their output significantly or stopping altogether.

This inevitably resulted in a shortfall of supply which in turn began to push prices back up again.

"Demand
