Orca Bay Seafoods and US-based cold-storage company Preferred Freezer Services' plan to build a $55 million (€52.7 million) fish-processing plant in the Seattle area was scrapped after Los Angeles-based Industrial Realty Group (IRG) notified the city that it was pulling out of the deal.
The project was met with some opposition from area residents, environmental groups and government officials.
IRG and Preferred Freezer sent a letter to the city of Federal Way Tuesday stating they "terminated the contract for the sale of land which would have resulted in development of a 19-acre warehousing, distribution and processing center."
