The EU Fish Processors and Traders Association (AIPCE-CEP) welcomed the recent signing of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada and the European Union, calling it a "step in the right direction."

"We have been supportive from the beginning of the process," Guus Pastoor, president of AIPCE-CEP, told IntraFish.

"The EU is far from self-sufficiency so we need extended trade agreements with other parts of the world," he said. "The facilitation of access to raw material is a priority for AIPCE-CEP as key for maintaining the competitiveness of our sector worldwide.”
