Able to reach customers on the same day as harvesting, seabass from Selonda U.K. -- a subsidiary of Greece-based Selonda Aquaculture -- are arriving up to five days fresher than imports from Greece and Turkey, prompting one wholesale customer to refer to the product as “red-gilled seabass,” the company said.
“We’re harvesting around one metric ton, once per week, at present,” said Robert Smith, managing director Selonda Non-Hellenic Subsidiaries. “This will build up to around five metric tons in the spring, and eventually to about 20 metric tons per week."
