While the levels of inflation seen over the last two years for seafood are starting to wane and prices have come down substantially for major categories, both fresh and frozen seafood continued to experience year-over-year volume and sales declines at US retailers in August.

The overall volume of seafood sales in August was down versus a year ago, with consumers taking advantage of the summer weather, time off and travel, which boosted restaurant dining, said Anne-Marie Roerink, CEO of 210 Analytics.
