Sysco, the largest broadline foodservice distributor in the United States, is examining its supply chain to determine the extent of its use of seafood originating from Russia.

"We are working to eliminate items sourced directly from Russia," a spokesperson told IntraFish on Thursday.

"We are actively switching to alternative suppliers as rapidly as possible with a goal of minimizing customer disruption."

The company could did not say which products it currently sourced from Russia, but sources with knowledge of its supply chain told IntraFish it is likely the distributor is bringing in king crab and perhaps some whitefish from the country.
