Waitr Holdings, operators of an on-demand food ordering and delivery service, said Friday it is expanding its partnership nationally with restaurant company Landry's to help the restaurateur distribute food from its more than 600 dining establishments directly to consumers.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has brought an unfortunate new reality to our industry and community that is causing us to face many challenges,” said Tilman Fertitta, CEO of Landry’s. “We are extremely appreciative of Waitr for their valued partnership over the years and their kindness today to support our employees during this challenging time.”

Throughout the United States and in other countries efforts to control the spread of the coronavirus have led to the closure or restaurants or limiting them to takeout and delivery only.

Landry's and Louisiana-based Waitr's new national partnership includes adding carryout services to all markets in which Landry’s operates, along with opening new delivery markets in Texas and Florida, with plans to expand to other states in the near future.

This partnership will be serviced under both the Waitr and Bite Squad brand names, and Waitr is offering jobs to Landry’s employees who are faced with unemployment due to Landry’s restaurant closures as delivery drivers for the Company.

“These are unprecedented and challenging times for the restaurant industry,” said Carl Grimstad, CEO of Waitr. “ Anything we can do to ensure the safety, health and well-being of our partners, employees and community, we will do.”

Landry’s operates high-end and casual dining establishments around the world, including well-known concepts such as Mastro’s Restaurants, Morton’s The Steakhouse, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouses, The Oceanaire, McCormick & Schmick’s, Landry’s Seafood, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., among others.
