Chinese customs authorities are temporarily suspending imports from two Ecuadorian shrimp companies, after traces of COVID-19 were found on outer packaging samples.

Proexpo (Procesadora y Exportadora De Mariscos) will be banned for one week and Expalsa (Exportadora de Alimentos SA) for two weeks, following the detection.

China said it took emergency preventive measures against the two Ecuadorian companies because four outer packaging samples of three batches of frozen vannamei shrimp imported from Ecuador were detected as positive for the new coronavirus nucleic acid.
