Chilean salmon exports to main markets of the United States and Brazil rebounded during the first six months of the year as foodservice demand recovered to varying degrees in the two countries.

Salmon shipments to the United States rose 14 percent compared with the same period last year, to 122,586 metric tons.

Exports to Brazil climbed 28 percent to 65,397 metric tons, according to official Chilean customs data supplied by the Chile Salmon Council, a trade group whose members --AquaChile, Mowi, Cermaq and Salmones Aysen -- account for around half of Chile's national salmon production.
