The recent Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification of the Prince William Sound (PWS) salmon fishery is welcome news for many in the seafood sector, in particular purveyors of wild Alaska salmon who have struggled to articulate why only a portion of their catch has been able to carry the little blue logo.
Nikolay Nikitenko, of Washington-based Global Seafoods North America, said it will help demand by making Prince William Sound salmon "more marketable."
"It's recognized and people want to consume sustainable seafood," he told IntraFish.
