Last month, Delta Air Lines began serving Seattle seafood on several US West Coast flights, and one of the vendors told IntraFish the feedback so far has been "very favorable, very positive."

Larry Mellum, founder and owner of Pike Place Chowder, said the airline is serving his company's classic New England clam chowder and he hopes enjoying it thousands of feet in the air will help boost his already-thriving business on land.

"Delta is ... expanding in [the Seattle] marketplace and they wanted to make a splash with some of the local businesses and, of course, seafood is a huge part of what goes on in Seattle, and Pike Place Market is one of the iconic places people come to visit," Mellum told IntraFish.
