Major foodservice distributor US Foods joined the antitrust fight against the tuna companies on Friday.
The company filed a lawsuit in an Illinois district court against Bumble Bee Foods, StarKist, Dongwon Industries, Del Monte, Tri-Union Seafoods (which operates as Chicken of the Sea International), and Thai Union Group.
US Foods alleges the defendants conspired fix, stabilize, maintain, and/or raise the price of shelf-stable tuna as early as 2004 through about July 2015.
