Chef Tom Douglas is the darling of Seattle.
In a city whose once-local brands have gone global — Starbucks, Amazon, Costco — Douglas, who has 14 restaurants in the city with three more ready to pop up within the next six months — has managed to become nearly synonymous with food in the seafood-centric city. He and his 15 chefs are responsible for $70 million in food and beverage sales annually in Seattle.
“I feel like we were made for each other, me and Seattle,” Douglas, who grew up on the US East Coast and ended up in Seattle at age 19, said during his keynote address attended by Seafood International.
