Boston-based Slade Gorton is one distributor benefiting from the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute's (ASMI) new marketing partnership with Walmart.

The seafood supplier does some of the packaging for a new Walmart overwrap program, which is featuring the ASMI logo and a recipe for Alaska salmon as part of a summer promotion, company President and CEO Kim Gorton told IntraFish.

"We've been using that ASMI sticker for a couple of months now," Gorton said. "We pack the fish fresh and the sticker goes on every package with the recipe inside."

Farmed salmon giant Marine Harvest is also packing product for the ASMI promotion at its plant in Los Angeles.
