The US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) said Thursday it will host a public meeting March 9 to debate the use of the term "healthy" on food labels -- a decision that could have a major impact on the seafood sector.

The FDA said last year it will redefine the word “healthy” as a nutrient content claim on food labels, and has now moved into the phase of public comments.

Gavin Gibbons, a spokesman at the National Fisheries Institute (NFI), said the new rules will likely be a boon for seafood.

He
