Dutch company BarcoVision has developed a new optical sorting machine for the shrimp industry.
Named MIRA-D (dual sorter), the Barco machine is the newest innovation in the Mira belt sorting machine series.
The manufacturer says it has combined four proven items in this sorter for the shrimp industry: camera technology, laser technology, a newly developed fibre optics system, and the belt sorting principle.
Barco has combined four CCD cameras scanning at different angles to see all colours and sides of the shrimp, and a blue laser for texture detection.
