Lobster sales in US supermarkets softened during the 52 weeks ending April 2, 2016, according to new data provided exclusively to IntraFish from the Nielsen Perishables Group, which tracks sales in key US grocery, mass/supercenter and club chains

Overall the lobster category accounted for 2.8 percent of total US retail seafood sales, with average weekly sales of $202 (€180) per store, a 1.4 percent decrease from the previous year. The eastern and western parts of the country had the strongest weekly lobster sales.
