The US has seafood-centric holidays such as National Clams on the Half Shell Day (March 31) and National Crab-Stuffed Flounder Day (February 18) — so why not perennial-favorite lobster?

US Senators Susan Collins and Angus King, both of lobster haven Maine, announced that the US Senate unanimously passed a resolution designating September 25 as National Lobster day “to recognize lobster’s prominent place in the culture and economy of the United States.

An unofficial National Lobster Day has been celebrated June 15, but the senators pushed for the day to be moved, as well as made official, to better coincide with the time of peak harvest.
