The Oregon Albacore Commission received a $15,000 (€13,151) Farm to School Grant from the Oregon Department of Education last week, funding that will support a boat-to-school culinary program for a school district on the state's northwestern coast.

"Oregon has such an abundance of agriculture and seafood products," Oregon Albacore Commission (OAC) Executive Director Nancy Fitzpatrick told IntraFish. "It just makes sense for Oregon to support and help make connections."

The program, supported monetarily by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and administered by the OAC is a partnership between the OAC, Oregon Trawl Commission, Oregon Dungeness Crab Commission, the Oregon Salmon Commission and fishermen from each of the five fisheries.
