Ikea Spain is launching Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified Pacifical tuna across all its branches in the country.
The decision illustrates the retailer's "solid global leadership toward tuna sustainability" and its support to eight Pacific economies largely dependent on tuna, it said.
"Ikea's commitment towards seafood sustainability delivers an influential message; regardless of the nature of our business, we are all accountable as market participants to guarantee tuna species are available for generations to come," said Henk Brus, managing director of Pacifical.
