Sustainable snack company Epic's founders, Taylor Collins and Katie Forrest, were touting their meat and poultry products at a Texas athletic event a couple of years ago when a family approached them.

"They were from Alaska, sixth generation fishermen, and they said if we ever wanted to do a salmon product, they'd be happy to partner with us," Collins told IntraFish.

The family was from Fred's Alaska Seafood, Collins and Forrest had been thinking about a seafood product, and "a great, authentic" relationship was born.
