US shoppers at Aldi supermarkets can now buy Atlantic salmon bearing GlobalGAP's new eco-label GGN.
The products are sold under the Specially Selected brand and are manufactured by Lithuanian company UAB ICECO zuvis.
The firm sees the independent certification of its aquaculture farms as a vital contribution towards sustainably ensuring the acceptance of aquaculture.
Aidanas Simokaitis, head of quality assurance at UAB ICECO zuvis, believes responsible aquaculture has to include not only good work on the farms, but also the understanding and trust of consumers.
