US canned tuna giant Bumble Bee Seafoods said on Tuesday its branded portfolio of canned solid white albacore tuna in water and in oil is now Non-GMO Project Verified.
The Non-GMO Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building and protecting the non-GMO food supply.
Bumble Bee's new cans carrying the non-GMO logo will start to hitting shelves next month.
The company also plans to certify the rest of its canned and pouch tuna products by the end of 2016.
Bumble Bee also has started to switch to sea salt for its canned tuna products to reduce the number of ingredients.
