Bolton's Rio Mare launches organic canned tuna in Italy

Bolton Group-owned tuna brand Rio Mare is launching a new line of organic tuna in Italy -- the Linea Bio -- certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), reports Mixer Planet.

The yellowfin tuna is canned with organic olive oil, grown without fertilizers or pesticides.

Luciano Pirovano, director of corporate social responsibility at Bolton Group, called the launch a "great achievement and an important step in our path towards sustainable fisheries."

Francesca Oppia, program director of the MSC in Italy, said she this marks the first step "toward real change in the tuna market."
