The Alpha Group, headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, was founded by the first generation of the Kurji family, who migrated from the undivided India to Kenya in the beginning of the 20th century. Today, the third generation of the Kurji family owns and operates what it says is one of the largest processors of the world's largest freshwater fish, Nile perch (Lates niloticus).

Alpha's Pino Vinaccia, who is responsible for international trade and marketing, says the company exports more than 2,000t of Nile perch each month.
