Tore Lyng, chairman of Norwegian firm Mato Invest, is planning to set up a land-based salmon farming company in Bjuv, Sweden.

Drawn by Sweden's lack of development in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) and a ready market, Lyng is waiting on the local municipality's approval.

Smaller facilities and research projects are already in place in the country and a larger facility, part of a collaboration between Norway's Lighthouse Finance and Sotenas municipality, plans to produce 100,000 metric tons of land-based salmon per year.
