THE HULL of the 'world's biggest trawler' was launched in Norway last weekend (12 Feb). She is the 144.6m fishing vessel/factory ship/cargo carrier Atlantic Dawn which is building at the Umoe Sterkoder shipyard at Kristiansund, Norway.
The vessel was launched by Irish Minister for the Marine Frank Fahey, watched by owner Kevin McHugh, of Killybegs, Ireland.
She will join the 106m Veronica, Ireland's only other factory trawler, which is also owned by Mr McHugh's company, Atlantic Dawn Ltd.
Atlantic Dawn, a stern trawler, will also be able to purse seine.
