HULL'S high tech Fishgate market has become the first fish market to achieve the internationally recognized European Food Safety Inspection Service (EFSIS) quality standard.
EFSIS evaluator Alan Campbell presented the certificate for the EFSIS higher level approval last Friday to the team of fish handlers whose high standards of work helped secure the accreditation.
It is the result of months of training and preparation and makes the new quality-driven fish trading centre, with its computer controlled environment, a world leader.
Mr Campbell, who has world wide experience of fish handling and processing, said:
