This isn’t the strident demands for closures and bans that we’ve become almost used to over the last couple of decades, but a more organised, corporate approach that fights its battles in courtrooms and boardrooms instead of on the streets with banners.
The spread of grounds lost to fishing is startling. Deep water grounds have already been lost to a great extent. The spread of MPAs, MPZs, whatever you like to call them has been rapid and on general fishermen are not high on the list of those whose opinions on the matter is taken seriously.
