BOATBUILDER Trefjar of Iceland has delivered two new GRP-hulled longliners within a few weeks, writes Quentin Bates.

The yard’s Cleopatra 36 Erato was moulded for Norwegian skipper Torfinn Kristiansen and the Cleopatra 38 Beta has been delivered to owner Hermann Kristjánsson of Iceland’s Westmann Islands.

Trefjar’s Högni Bergthórsson says that Beta replaces an older Trefjar Cleopatra and is fitted out as a dedicated longliner with a full shelterdeck and a Mustad longline system.

He says that the Cleopatra 36 Erato is a slightly smaller version of the Cleopatra 38 design which has been adjusted to comply with Norwegian tonnage regulations

Björgvin Bjarnason of Mustad’s Icelandic agent Sjóvelar tells FNI that Beta has a full Mustad Coastal longline system on board, including the line and end line haulers, with an 18,000 hook set of Dyrkorn 7 mm line rigged with Mustad hooks and stored on racks.
