SWEDISH firm SwETech AB has developed a CLIPPER wire cutter to meet the need to cut a trawl wire by remote and immediate action.
The CLIPPER wire cutter can be positioned on the winch spreader or anywhere near the trawl wire.
It is released by a non-electrical fuse from one location or several different locations (eg: the wheelhouse or trawl deck).
The cutting is activated by a minor charge which consists of only a few grammes of propellant.
The CLIPPER is made entirely of stainless steel and was developed following rigorous testing which took into account the rigours and dangers of trawling.
