Fishermen in the Atlantic sea scallop fishery next year are projected to land 46.5 million pounds in 12 months, and with the additional prorated 13th month, the catch could be up to 47.5 million pounds, a notable jump from this season, New England Fishery Management Council (NEFMC) officials determined last week.

But the rise won't stop there. Estimated projected landings for the 2018-2019 fishing year are 71.7 million pounds, a 51 percent jump from the 2017 13-month season. Estimated landings in the 2019-2020 fishing year, meanwhile, are 83.1
