It was back in December 2006 that Michael Gallagher, managing director of Swan Net-Gundry, and Bernie Cunningham, design/pelagic, discussed new proposals on gear for Quantus with Ian and Mark Buchan.
Earlier that year the Quantus skippers were impressed by the performance of SNG’s new design of hexagonal mesh mid-water-trawls when models were displayed in a workshop session held at the Hirtshals flume tank in Denmark.
The use of hexagonal mesh has worked very well for pelagic skippers in Shetland, Scotland, Ireland, the Faroe Islands and France who use SNG trawls.
