Wreck netter Fiona Mary is having her Spencer Carter NHO5 net hauler replaced after more than eight years' solid service. The vessel is having a major refit after a recent fire incident while fishing, and is undergoing repairs at the Galmpton boatyard.
"It's the longest serving net hauler we've ever had and the maintenance bill is a fraction to that of the last hauler, " says owner/skipper Rob Penfold.
"We mostly fish wreck nets, with a bit of sole netting on occasion, so less gear is hauled than, say, a tangle netter but we have hauled thousands of miles of net through the hauler and on every tier.
