Mystery surrounds the arrival of the ship off Padang Padang beach. Locals woke on July 12 to see the vessel foundering on a reef. Looters emptied her holds of tuna and shark which is believed to have been caught illegally.

Police are trying to find the vessel’s Indonesian crew and Taiwanese skipper, Tsai Wen-chen. Taiwanese authorities sought Indonesia’s help to find the vessel several weeks ago after she failed to return from a fishing trip off Papua.
