NAMIBIAN Fishing Industries Ltd.

(Namfish) of Walvis Bay has been transformed into one of the country's largest hake quota holders with South African operator Sea Harvest buying in last month.

"Sea Harvest can add a lot of knowledge to us in processing the catches, " says Peter Pahl, managing director of Northern Fishing Industries (Pty) Ltd. , part of rapidly expanding Namfish.

Based on last season's quota, Namfish had a 16,000-ton hake quota which, when added to the Sea Harvest quota of 12,000 tonnes, will give the new grouping some 28,000 tonnes of hake to catch.
