SCOTLAND'S only pelagic freezer has been sold to Iceland, writes LORRAINE SHEARER.

The 73.5m Orcades Viking III, owned by Skipper Angus Sinclair of Stromness, Orkney, is in dry dock in Norway before heading to fish in waters off west Africa.

She is Skipper Sinclair's third Orcades Viking and was commissioned in 1991 by Skipper Sinclair and partner of many years at that time, Joe Nicholson.

It is believed the Icelandic company that has bought the vessel has offered to employ the ship's 42 crew, and four or five have shown an interest.
