Built over 70 years ago at Cockenzie for local owners as a traditional east coast ringnetter/drifter/ seine netter, the 40ft Lively Hope is among the collection of historic fishing vessels owned by the Scottish Fisheries Museum at Anstruther.

At present Lively Hope is housed in a purpose-built building on the former Smith and Hutton boatyard site at Anstruther with other smaller boats of the museum's collection.

Lively Hope is a typical example of a type of vessel that was once common on the Firth of Forth, but has now all but disappeared.
