Scotland 'ready to sacrifice fishing to get into EU'

Emotions are running high in Scotland as the country is casting its vote on independence today.

Ahead of the referendum, a senior industry figure accused the Scottish National Party (SNP) of making a U-turn on its fishery policy to further its independence cause.

Tom Hay, honorary president of the Fishermen's Association (FAL), said the SNP had dropped its policy of withdrawal from the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) and was prepared to use the nation's fishing grounds as a bargaining tool to negotiate EU membership if Scotland becomes independent.
