The Scottish Fisheries Secretary Richard Lochhead will call for a pause in cuts to the days at sea allowed to fishermen in crucial meetings to be held this week.
Lochhead will also press for greater regionalized control of the fishing industry through reform of the European Union's Common Fisheries Policy (CFP).
Lochhead met with U.K. Fisheries Minister Richard Benyon on Wednesday, Nov. 2. At the meeting, he was due to emphasize that cuts in fishing effort need to be put on hold.
