THE SUN shone brightly on the naming ceremony of the scalloper Rois Mhairi OB 45 at Whitby last Saturday, when the vessel was named in the traditional manner by Joan and John MacAlister's daughter Linda Reilly, reports David Linkie.

Scrabster RNMDSF superintendent Murray Campbell dedicated Rois Mhairi in front of over 100 invited quests who travelled from all parts of Scotland for the launch before enjoying an evening reception at the Raven Hall Hotel.

Designed by Ian Paton of SC McAllister for John MacAlister (Oban) and launched ahead of schedule, the 19m Rois Mhairi is the largest vessel built to date by Parkol Marine Engineering.
