Devon fishing industry figures and French fishermen have paid tribute to retired beam trawler skipper Chris Boyce of Brixham, who has died unexpectedly at the age of 61 (FN 6 June 'Shock death of Brixham man').
There was a big attendance at the funeral on Tuesday last week of a fisherman whom his friend and compatriot, Rick Smith, leader of Brixham Trawler Agents, described as "a remarkable man".
He said: "We grew through the beaming industry together. Chris was like me, we worked on many boats, often together, we shared the same love of the fishing industry and I'm sure everyone shares my feelings.
