Dutch shipping company Rijksrederij received the newly refitted scientific research vessel Tridens last week, after extensive work at Damen’s Maaskant Shipyards Stellendam in the Netherlands.

The vessel was delivered to the company, which is part of the Dutch government’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, after a major midlife conversation to boost the vessel’s multifunctional capabilities for fisheries research, including installation of a new ‘drop keel’.

Damen Shipyards claimed this was Damen Maaskant Shipyards Stellendam’s biggest refit project ever.

The Rijksrederij is the custodian of the North Sea and manages a fleet of specialist vessels.
