TWO FISHERMEN from Mudeford in Dorset hauled in a surprise catch last week; a very rare big-eye tuna.
Skipper Peter Dadds and crewman Martin Adolph were fishing with five-inch mesh trammel nets from their Cheetah catamaran close to the shore in Christchurch Bay.
"We normally fish with those nets for Dover sole further offshore, but the fishing had dropped right-off so we decided to try for big bass closer in, sometimes we do quite well on those fish.
"On hauling a tier of nets we saw a white, shiny object coming towards the boat, we quickly knew it was something like a tuna and might be valuable.
