How far has the German fleet been reduced in recent years?
Peter Breckling: In 2000 we had 2,313 vessels, which has decreased to 1,533.
The majority are small vessels in the Baltic ranging from full commercial to part-time activities with small quotas.
It is a more or less continuous process driven by the age of the vessels and the crews.
Small family businesses are not able to replace their vessels without public funding.
