“The GAP approach is built around the idea that collaboration between industry, academia and civil society is vital to developing truly effective, good governance of our natural resources,” said Dr Steven Mackinson, a scientist at UK research body CEFAS, who has also been at the head of the GAP2 project.

 

“To investigate this hypothesis within the context of fisheries management, in 2008 the first GAP project established 13 research case studies across Europe, each one centred upon working partnerships between fishers, scientists, and policy-makers.
