THE OLDEST beam trawler in Brixham - Harm Johannes, built in 1954 - was declared the 'overall winner' and won the Class 1 section of Brixham Trawler Race last Saturday, reports PHIL LOCKLEY.
Owners Mark Baillie and Adrian Strike ('Jock') were proud to see their 49 year old beamer beat vessels one quarter of her age to take the Prince of Wales Cup.
Second place went to the beam trawler Christina (FD 100) and third place to the longliner, Silver Stream.
The organisers said the race, sponsored by Fishing News, was a great success, and the race committee worked hard to reach their goal of collecting over £9000 toward local charities.
