With DEFRA having launched its consultation on the Reform of Fisheries Management in England, which includes, amongst other things, proposals to allocate access to fish to under-10s and the non-sector based on their individual track records and removing the under-10 pool arrangements, the New Under Ten Fishermen’s Association (NUTFA) is to tour UK ports to solicit fishers’ opinions. It says it believes it is “vital that fishermen are given every opportunity to have their say in relation to what will inevitably be massive changes to their individual businesses as a result of DEFRA’s plans”.
